The Albert Gutzmann School is located in the Wedding district of the Berlin Mitte. Almost 700 students learn here. The residential area is characterized by high unemployment, especially among young people. Almost 90% of the children come from families with a migration background, in which in many cases German is hardly spoken at home.
The school is divided into a primary school, a special education center with a focus on "language" for grades 1 to 6 and an area with 14 learning groups for newcomers from different age groups with little knowledge of German.
